I knew Dan for about 11 years. We chatted to each other on line almost every day, with MSN or Twitter. Most weeks, I would pick him up (he didn't drive) to meet up with other friends at the Wren, for a pint & a good old chin-wag.
His passing was a great shock to me, he will be missed as he was a great inspiration, was always chirpy... needing to always be kept busy and his knowledge of IT (his specialist subject) was immense.
I remember we went to watch motor racing together, also cinema & technology shows. He liked to get out and about to see the world, that was Dan all over.
To his family and closest friends, I offer my deepest condolances.
You will always be missed xx
I always called Dan, Danny boy (which he didn't like much but tolerated as he knew it was from me!). I had known him for about 9 years, as he had always been a good friend to my husband Mark.
On first meeting Dan, it was clear how clever and witty he was. He was always on a high, despite his health problems - which he rarely complained about, and always had a kind word to say.
He always had big dreams and these dreams were finally becoming a reality until his life was cut short so abruptly.
I will always look on, fondly of Dan. He was a great friend, was always there if you needed to chat, and cheered you up if you were feeling down.
It has been, and will always will be, a shock to find him gone.
I know his spirit will live on in all who has had the pleasure of knowing him.
My heart goes out to his forever loving and caring parents, and to those who were closest to him.
You may be gone, Dan, but you'll never be forgotten.
God bless and rest in peace.
Love always, A.xxx
